Mural Painting

- transforms walls, creates a wide open space
- takes you from the mundane into your own imagination
- raises aesthetical awareness

Workmanship

Interior murals are carried out onto the wall with high-quality acrylic artists paints. Beforehand the wall has to be flattened and undercoated accordingly. If required, a matt varnish that permits damp cleaning is applied to the finished mural.
The surface has to be clean, smooth and sustainable. Special emulsion paint is applied either by us or by a craftsman painter according to our directions. To avoid cracks on plasterboard we recommend that the surface is reinforced according to technical specifications and covered with an overall filling.
The quality of preliminary works depends on the designated standard of the mural: since a long viewing distance can do without fine details, exterior murals are often painted onto felt plaster without final smoothing. On facades we also work with silicate paint or other paints, adapted to the physical configuration of the ground. Emulsion paint murals used exteriorly should be covered with a transparent top coat in order to protect them from ultra violet radiation.
As an option we carry out murals with casein or lime paint. Oil paints are not recommended for mural painting, due to the long drying time, yellowing, risk of saponification and the low diffusion of an alkyd varnish.
For sizes up to 10 sqm we frequently paint on canvas, fleece, boards et cetera, which are removable from walls if required. For more information see “Trompe-l´oeil paintings on boards”.

When painting unto walls the wall surfaces have to be prepared beforehand by the customer in an appropriate manner…
... in order for the painting to be accomplished within the scheduled timeframe.
