Workshop description
Marble
The seminar introduces to the characteristic textures of marble and explains typical species of mar-ble.
Based on Giallo Siena marble you get to know the primal principles of marbling techniques with artist´s oil paints. According to other species the techniques are modified.
Nero Marquina is carried out in several layers with acrylics. Attention is turned especially to the translucent black layers on the coloured base, and on the arrangement of the bright veins.
Grand Antique marble is a highly expressive stone. We practice our sense for composition and shapes.
Sandstone and granite
The painting of sandstone is combined with a three-dimensional moulding with striking impacts of light and shadow.
Painting the dry stone wall is based on an interesting composition of shapes and light/dark-boundaries. Optionally those walls appear rustic or elegant.
Using the example of granite you learn to achieve complex effects by clever colour blending and the natural structures of a sponge.
All materials and tools are provided on the course. You are not required to bring any tools with you. The seminar fee includes a set of tools, that you are able to take home after the workshop. It is recommended that you bring light work clothing (overalls, aprons) to protect you from any paint spray.
