Workshop description
Independent from all interior trends wall glazes have become a fundamental element of decoration.
The professional is required to command a variety of glazing techniques, to know their characteris-tic forms of expression and apply them correctly. He also has to blend glazing paints individually and to accomplish the work with a sensitive understanding of the effects of colour in space.
The basic workshop teaches a variety of glazing techniques with oil, acrylic, silicate and casein paints on different bases. You will be practicing decorative methods: atmospheric soft shapes without visible brush strokes or lines as well as more structured and defined craftwork.
Marble glazing (Carrara marble and Rosso Verona marble) is one of the highpoints of the work-shop. In the crossover of theory and practice six patterns (60 cm x 60 cm) are produced by each student.
Through this the participants should be able to assess how the base should work, which material is best for which purpose and how the glazed surfaces can be protected.
All materials and tools are provided on the course. You are not required to bring any tools with you. The seminar fee includes a set of tools, that you are able to take home after the workshop. It is recommended that you bring light work clothing (overalls, aprons) to protect you from any paint spray.
Qualifications required
Glazing and marbling is a well founded basic subject workshop, that can be attended without quali-fications required.
The workshop is attended by professional groups (e.g. painters and decorators, interior decoraters) as well as by interested laymen. In the region of decorative techniques is not possible to dedates a clear cut qualification boundary between professionals and laymen who practice in the arts.
While professional painters who have an advantage of technical knowledge can revise it during the theoretical talks, the laymen will gain further knowledge in the field.
On the other side amateurs with some practice in painting may gain very good results
in blending shades of paints and painting marble in a relaxed way. An accomplished professional is often astonished at the admirable achievements of the laymen.
